The recent information we have received tells us that since
last month Renault India has shipped various units of the Kwid small car to
countries like France, Germany and South Korea and three of them are the
1.0-litre version. Along with India Renault also plans to launch the new Kwid
1.0-litre in few global markets and that is apparently why the carmaker has
shipped the new Kwid to those markets for R&D, before its official
unveiling at this year's Auto Expo.
Currently the Renault Kwid sold in India sports an 800cc
petrol engine the produces a maximum of 54bhp and a peak torque of 72Nm.
Transmission duties are taken care of by a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the
upcoming 1.0-litre unit is likely to get an AMT unit as option.
